Frequently asked questions

I forgot my PIN. How do I recover it?

If you generated the Recovery Kit when creating the vault, open it (the printed PDF you stored). There's your PIN written along with reinstall instructions.

If you did NOT generate the Recovery Kit, we cannot help you recover the PIN — it's the cost of the zero-knowledge model. The only option is to uninstall the app and start over (you would lose the vault contents).

I forgot my sync master password

Same principle: if you generated the Recovery Kit including the master password, it's there. If not, we cannot reset it — your cloud vault becomes inaccessible.

Recommendation: after creating any sync account, immediately generate the Recovery Kit including the master password.

How do I activate the family vault?

  1. Settings → Family Vault → Activate family sync
  2. Vaultix generates a unique Vault ID + passphrase
  3. Share both values with your family members through a secure channel (encrypted message, in person, paper)
  4. They open their Vaultix → Family Vault → Join

How do I change the plan or cancel the subscription?

iOS: System Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Vaultix. Apple manages everything, we have no access to your card.

How do I delete my account?

Settings (inside Vaultix) → Cloud sync → Delete my account. This deletes everything from the server within 24 hours. Local data on your device is preserved — to delete that too, uninstall the app.

Why do I need an email for sync?

It's the only thing we need to identify your account on Firebase. We never share it with third parties and only use it so you can log in from other devices. Zero spam.

Does Vaultix work offline?

Yes, completely. All core functionality (view, add, edit, autofill) works without connection. You only need the internet to sync between devices and for the breach monitor (HIBP).

Can I use Vaultix in my desktop browser?

In v1.0 only mobile (iOS + Android). The browser extension arrives in v1.1 (estimate: 4-6 weeks after launch).

How do I import my passwords from 1Password / Bitwarden / LastPass?

Requires Vaultix Pro. Settings → Import → choose the format. We support CSV from all three plus native encrypted exports.
